Case Study: Mill View, Wales & West Housing

Overview

Mill View is a housing estate managed by Wales and West Housing Association (WWHA). WWHA sought to replace expensive electric night storage heaters fitted to some of the properties, exchanging them for air source heat pumps. MasterTherm BoxAir Inverter units with solar thermal panels were installed in a total of 24 properties to significantly reduce the tennants energy bills, reduce carbon output and increase efficiency. The units are fitted with full internet monitoring capabilities linked by a shared wireless network with the ability to monitor and amend the settings via the Internet and ensure effective and reliable operation.

"It’s great to see this fine example of how the energy efficiency of homes in Wales can be improved. Thanks to the latest technology, these homes are now much more environmentally friendly and the investment means that the tenants themselves can look forward to reduced energy bills and warmer homes." - Carl Sargeant, Welsh Government Housing Minister (2014)
