Overview
This project of 170 homes on the former site of Eastern High School, is a Cardiff Living development, managed by Wates Residential. The project was awarded £4.1m of funding from the Welsh Government Innovative Housing Programme (IHP) and takes energy performance standards to a new level as each of the homes incorporates renewable technologies and smart energy management systems to reduce the energy demand on the grid, as well as helping to tackle fuel poverty by significantly reducing energy bills. Our MasterTherm AquaMaster Inverter AQ17i is being supplied for the development by Thermal Earth who are working with Cardiff-based sustainable energy services company, Sero to incorporate low carbon technologies into the development of all the new homes including smart thermal storage, electric vehicle charging points, solar panels and smart controls for residents. Sero will provide an innovative grid energy control network that will intelligently draw, discharge and anticipate energy demands, almost completely avoiding the National Grid at peak times. The AQ17i is the UK's most advanced compact ground source heat pump and features include:
- Inverter technology for increased unit lifespan and efficiency
- Zone control for up to 6 heating circuits
- Passive and active cooling functionality
- Weather compensation (can detect outdoor weather temperatures and increase/decrease output without homeowners needing to adjust the system)
- Low noise output
- 7 year warranty
- Online control via internet browser or smartphone apps
- Remote diagnostics through online monitoring (Reduces need for callouts)
- Compatibility with variable tariffs such as Agile Octopus
